Houston Mayoral Candidate Signs Anti-Gay Petition

On Monday reviewers of anti-gay activist Dave Wilson's latest petition, aimed at repealing protections for LGBT Houstonians, discovered mayoral candidate Ben Hall among its signers.

In 2013 Hall unsuccessfully ran for City of Houston Mayor and lost by a 30 point margin to Mayor Annise Parker. In 2013 Hall had indicated he would support a nondiscrimination ordinance that included protections for Houston's LGBT community when responding to a questionnaire provided by the Harris County Democrat Party. After his 2013 loss Hall became one of the most vocal opponents of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance.

Out of the top seven contenders for the 2015 race for mayor Hall currently sits second to last in campaign contributions, and is tied at second to last place in the latest KHOU-Houston Public Media Poll.
